i am tired of having to try to treat people as friends, when i cant even treat myself truthfully. this sucks. another thing will be the team…you need trust. i can get myself to trust them on the surface. it is no problem. but the thing is, i dont even know if i trust them or not, because i dont even trust myself. got an answer, respond please. the last time i thought, i thought that online portals are the best for me to face myself, but perhaps i am wrong again.

and like what i’ve told ruth, perhaps the only one i can consider a friend would be xinying. yes be honoured cos you are the only one i can really trust with my stuff. and we are more than hi-bye. we are cousins. awkwardness, dont think so…as compared to all the other people around me.

and of course, like what i’ve told jing, music. that’s something that can cross all barriers…

anyways, xiao jing teng + zhang hui mei = the best! both can sing and both have nice voice…added up together you get something nice of course xiao jing teng + cao ge + yang zong wei too! i shall go check xing guang bang’s cd out soon…and of course, FIRs. i am alr listening to it. NICE :)  di shi xing xing is good a little like revolution i like X)

do yall still remember tay kewei who withdrew from PSS2? because of some yin cha yang cuo reasons, i found her blog, her profile on imeem and stuff like that. and i am impressed by her songwriting (yes i am), and i am shocked she actually did the demo for some songs which i love, and yes her gai wang le ni dui bu dui is as good as zhou hui’s, wo yao de xuan ze too. the only thing would be you xie ai which i still prefer kelly’s. more groove anyways i am beginning to love her voice once more yes she is the he yin tian shi for alot of singers. and she can sing…really go check her out! anyways, i am suspecting something between derrick and kewei -tsktsk- nah it is just me being dumb again. so anyways, the point is kewei rawkks! her demos are good, though i am still kinduv confused. does that mean that she sang the demos for the songwriters? but how come lyrics different then? is it demos for music only? hmm, but wtv it is, the point is, SHE RAWKS!

3rd time listening to “dear TANK”…when my player is on shuffle…but i dont care, cos it really IS meaningful AND really i enjoy it sometimes i wonder, why they must da zhuan shu tian shi, when dear TANK is a really better song. commercial purposes?

the di yi zhu da of the song written by milubing…ouch, painful song kae….lei. very simple de yao qiu…yet it needs to move all your tears…sad lahh…but it happens all the time): what a great world…ahh i shall start on my review….

milubing-milubing

The first band voted by Singaporeans. Champion of a talent scouting competition, Superband, milubing has finally debuted, after a wait of more than a year. I have never really paid much attention to the competition, never really took note of this band, which means i wont be able to compare their performance in this album to that in the competition. It would be a fresh start, no prior impressions. 

The first track, 泪 (tears), is the first hit of the album. I first heard it over the radio, and was utterly impressed. The song was written by milubing themselves. I am not sure if they have prior experiences, but i would say that this song is good. it isnt a typical slow and calming song, which i expected from the title of the track. instead, it made use of the fast beat to bring out the agony and pain. maybe it’s just me, but in the mandopop industry, i dont see much of this. usually, songs with titles like this would be linked to a very slow and sweet kind of song. i would say that this is a good attempt away from the norm. by placing this as the first track, it does leave a good impression.

the next track, 适应, is a slower song written by Sam, the drummer, and remains the 2nd hit of the album. very slow and soothing, quite a breakthrough from 泪 i would say, yet it brings out the feeling equally well, or even better. it is the kind of a song which would get you addicted to it…泪, gets you up, all angsty. the track following,适应, however would calm you down, and brings you to another kind of sadness. There is an acoustic version of this song later in the album [track 7]. i’d have to say, this is a song that really would get stuck in your head…

next up is Get Alive, another upbeat song, a total breakthrough from the previous track. I wouldnt say that i loved it when i first heard it, but i wouldnt say that i didnt like it either. However, it would just grow on you, and you cant help but just start to get high along with the song. It might not be the best. In fact, it might be just slightly above average, but i would say that it really did reach its goal, which is to make you just go high. The purpose of this song was just to encourage people to take a break from whatever you are doing, and just to get high, abit like mayday’s 离开地球表面. yes, compared to mayday, they are not as good, but they have tried, and are trying, and at the very least, achieved the initial goal.

Track 4, 天使眷恋, would be another ballad i pretty enjoy, especially the chorus. yes, the music may be kind of common, but it is still another good ballad. and the verse, which i may not enjoy as much, helps to build up to the chorus. and the verse itself, i would say would grow on you. but i would say that this song has not impressed me to the extent 适应 did.

我为什么还爱你 would be the next track, and i would consider this as one of my favourites. the chorus especially, would get stuck in your head, like totally. it is a ballad, really sad and yet carries a little teeny bit of sweetness. and yes, it does sound great. this is a song which you would really like once you hear it, at least i did. and this is the song i would be able to listen to over and over again, apart from 适应.

Track 6, So Sad, would be the song i like the least in the album. It’s an upbeat song, and so i expected it to be something like 泪. and yes, i was totally wrong. the verse may have sounded quite alright, but i didnt like the chorus. the song, it really did not sound anything like “so sad”. somehow the chorus reminds me of 183 club. i’m not sure why, but it just does. and although i may have not liked it so much, i cant help but sing along with the song. it just has the power to make me do so…

Track 8, 百万宝, was the theme song for a Singapore Mediacorp series, 百万宝. it is the kind of a song where by you would be totally cheered up by it, and i would say that it really matches the drama serial, equally cheerful. there are bits of laughter in the song, which is, in my opinion, quite useful to make the song the cheerful way it is…

The last track, 勇气, is a fish leong song. the milubing version was recorded in a compilation Superband album, and i would safely assume that milubing fans are very familiar with this song. i personally prefer fish leong’s version of 勇气though, but i prefer the milubing’s version over 光良’s version.

I would rate this album a 7.5/10. Considering that this is a debut album, i would say they did pretty well. The album brought you through many different kinds of feelings, and the order of tracks are such that the fast songs and slow songs are alternated. i am not sure if there is a particular reason, neither do i see the purpose in it. but if you take apart the songs and listen to them separately, the songs are really good. even if you listen to the whole album as a whole, i would not say that it is bad. it has a good starting, and a good ending. it isnt a album with 10 tracks like the norm, but the 9 songs are good enough.  okk lahh, it’s e first time i dun mind korean stuff. i know i hated korean shows hahah. i  still hate them…prefer jap dramas but korea has more singing-pple compared to jap lahh..jap i can only find ayumi and utada hikaru. hahah…but tw my list still longer larh :\\ lol. but i have to say this. i know i am mean but…erm, for the koreans trying to sing chinese, it’s a good effort, but go learn yr chinese properly first yah? it sounds kinduv weird yeah?

away from the normal chinese music lauren listens to, SHE LOVES BOA AND SHINHWA! BoA’s vocals, nothing to say…and her looks also nothing to say. Shinhwa’s songs, nothing to say also…it’s just WOW….and not bad voice…heh. and then there is J-pop AYUMI! hahahah. ehh jaime i not siao okay…this one not long

suddenly got reminded of this while listening to F4’s 烟火的季节。why? dont need to know. it’s just for me to know X) a few years back, i’d blindly and stupidly agree (heh.). now i wont. i’d agree if i really agree [oh random comment: i like Vaness, Jerry and Vic chou's voice they sounded really good in yan huo. or maybe cos Ken Chu was really urgh...though i must say he spoilt the song for me )

hmm, but i have to say i prefer ding dang's version i mean...zhuo wen xuan is good too, but i prefer ding dang she makes me want to cry more than zhuo wen xuan...but i prefer zhuo wen xuan's voice (: sweeter!! heh.

ohh and since chinese music forum is down, i shall attempt an album review here. [heh. i have been wanting to write one just that i suck so yeahh. i shall try now]

王子-张栋梁

Through this album, Nicholas Teo is trying to get rid of his boy-next-door image. He has tried and attempted new styles, but not completely off his image. The album still has the smoothing and slow ballads like he had kept in his first 2 albums.

The first track 游戏 is something i, personally, would never expect coming from Nicholas Teo, basing it on his previous albums, which were all very soothing ballads. 游戏 has a relatively quicker tempo as compared to the rest of the songs in the album. It is a total different from the classic Nicholas Teo. Personally, i like this track quite a bit. Although there is this bit whereby he just repeats the same thing over and over again (which is quite similar to Mayday’s 为爱而生）, i think it has quite a great impact and brings out the 游戏 feeling, leaving me feeling really light-hearted after listening to it.

The 2nd track, 错了再错,brings back the Nicholas Teo we are all familiar with, although i personally would say i prefer the ballads in his previous albums, like 当你孤单你会想起谁 and 痛彻心扉. This song is at most slightly above average. It is really safe, but yet not as good as the other ballads. I personally dislike the bridge. Somehow it spoils the whole song for me.

Next up is 王子, the first hit of the album.  A very obvious change, the first time he tried rapping, and yet i would say he did a pretty good job on this song, although i personally think the rapping was really forced. i mean it could have been done without, but just added in for him to try it out. He managed to nicely show the arrogance, the i-do-what-i-want attitude, and yet not make people irritated at the arrogance.

幸福的理由is the next track. it started off good for me. but after the 2nd line of the chorus, the whole image of it just fell. it did get slightly better after listening to it for a few times, but the thing about the song is that once you actually start thinking that it sounds quite alright, there has to be something to spoil the impression of it. 

如果 and 陌路 brings you back to the old Nicholas Teo once again. The difference is that these songs are the kinds where you would like them more and more, after listening to it a few times over, unlike those which you would like after listening to it once through. I really enjoy the chorus of 如果. and 陌路just sounded good. as compared to 错了再错,i would say i prefer this 2 songs. they are really safe too, but i personally think it was a better job done, in terms of composing, the bringing out of emotions and the end product.

Track 7, Super Idol. Quite up-beat, but i personally didnt really enjoy the start, but as it went on, it got on quite well. It didnt sound that bad, but not that good either. i would say, slightly below average.

Track 8, 其实幸福很简单. another ballad, but really soothing and has the calming effect, makes you forget everything else. although there are parts where it sounds really strange, the remaining of the song covers up for it. It is close to my favourite track in the album.

Track 9, 相信. the verses are good, the chorus fitted in, but the chorus didnt sound that good, to the extent that it sounded weird. However i would say that the overall effect is quite good, though it carries the same kind of atmosphere as quite a number of the previous songs. For people who need variety, they should be quite bored by this track.

The 2nd last track, 晚安，宝贝. the prelude brings back childhood memories, where you listen to lullabies every night before sleeping. it is really really soothing. If you would just close your eyes and let the song fill the whole room, you would really enjoy it. It isnt to the extent whereby you will fall asleep, but it really helps to relax.

And the last track 北极星的眼泪. It was the theme song for the drama 微笑Pasta, and also recorded in the OST. this is a really wonderful ballad. It is like his normal ballads, like 当你孤单你会想起谁and 只因为你. for those who enjoyed those ballads, you would enjoy this song too. Currently it remains my favourite song in the album.

Overall, i would say it is a good attempt to get rid of his image, with songs like 王子 and 游戏. but other than that, the style is really repeated. It is a good album, but there is not much variety in it, other than a few attempts to steer away from his image. However, i will have to say that i personally enjoyed this album more than his first 2. Generally, i did enjoy the album, and would rate it a 7 out of 10.

omigosh…okk i know i might have said this before. but i have to say it again. DEAR TANK is such a SWEET song…and TANK has the POWERS to make everyone gan dong!!! so does lin yu zhong! xuan lv is a VERY SWEET song lahh. ahhh!!! LOVE THEM LOADS!

Dear TANK may not be a christian song, but it REALLY shows his love for God and it really helps to focus…THANK YOU JESUS FOR GIVING TANK SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!! <33
